“Be a man for others” was the rubric of Mark’s life. His life indeed was a virtuous one, well lived.
He wished to give rather than to receive.
He desired to know rather than to be known.
He wished to compensate rather than to be compensated.
He would rather respect than be respected.
He would rather give love than be loved in return.
He had a fatal flaw however, a genetic one. He could not expect less for his efforts than perfection. He could not bear disappointment.
Grant him peace.
